A few weeks ago, a youth and his biological family currently being served in the foster care program experienced a household fire resulting in complete devastation of all of their belongings. They are currently being housed at a hotel funded through the Red Cross. They are hoping to move into a rental home in the coming weeks.
This family of 6 has been connected to Little City FCAD program for 5+ years. During this time, we have successfully placed 2 pre-teen boys from residential/congregate care settings into our foster care placements, and eventually being able to return both of them home to their biological mother, her husband, and their siblings. Little City’s FCAD team just reunified one teen boy with his family 1 week prior to the fire. While this reunification should be celebrated as a success, and successful outcome for this youth and his family, the negative consequence of him having just been reunified is that the youth in care and his family are no longer eligible to the vast financial supports and assistance typically available to youth and families served in foster care through DCFS. For this reason, we are reaching out to the Little City community
Little City has always been great about supporting our youth and families in times of need. Below is a list of items requested by the family.
